Peach Colours and Ordering an Elephant Online

Inspired by the peach dress in the Pride and Prejudice shot, I've been flicking through the tumblr sites and have found a new favourite colour. Which, I've come to realise, is all this blog is about.. what my favourite colour is this week ..and how I realise that in my mildly extensive wardrobe there is actually nothing of this colour. I shall have to go look tomorrow. But I realy shouldn't, because I am but a poor poor student, to lowly even to walk into H&M.
Mmm. 'Typing' of being a student.. I'm missing textiles again. Which is just sad, isn't it? But I've been flicking through the short courses on the London College of Fashion website and thinking about taking a course in fashion design.. or illustration- except I can't 'realy' draw. Bleh. I feel so limited. Have so much energy and excitement for these things, but being talentless realy limits you, I find. mm. Must find something I am good at. Like... . ..

.... ... ..

..like eating. I shall eat for a living. But maybe I can't even do that because my flatmate (in jest, I hope:) )told me it was funny when I swallowed. So maybe I won't be able to eat for a living. .maybe I shall grow a beard and join the circus and eat popcorn all day and wear peach colours as my circus clothes. Excellent plan. Though now I feel like a traitor to my degree. Poor Linguistics (and a little bit of Latin), never mind. I am sure syntax will not miss me as I take up a career in trapezing and or elephant training.

Must go now, I am going to see if I can order and elephant over the internet. You know, just for practice.

I Believe in Pink and Living in Trees

Keira Knightley

Zooey Deschanel

Freja Beha Erichsen

Evanna Lynch

Alison Harvard

Hattie Morahan

Alison Sudol

Alexa Chung

Clemence Poesy

Sophie Dahl

A really odd mix of choices today, but these are my 'girl crushes'. I couldn't tell you why or what they have in common, but perhaps you could tell me?
I think I'd like to be a mix of Hattie Morahan and Sophie Dahl when I am older, and speak french and make croissants and live in a tree and own a pet deer. Or perhaps you can't have everything, but I think I would like to try.
Au Revoir!

I'd Best Tidy Up My Head, I'm The Only One In Love

Images of the backs of people's heads realy fascinate me today. I actually have a folder in my 'pictures' section entitiled 'heads', and I've kept adding to it. If a new person flicked through my computer folders..they'd be like.. 'a heads folder? arms and legs folder? a folder on funerals? Emz, you odd odd person.' Jk tho, I don't have an arms and legs folder, or a folder on funerals for that matter.. I'm not a weirdo. heh.
Must stop putting off my essay now: Are Meaning and Computation Compatible in a Theory of Language & Mind? anyone willing to write it for me? anyone? ?? Thought not. boo . :)

Jammy Dodgers and a Swiss-Austrain Neoclassical Painter

When I was at home (back in Yorkshire) a couple of weeks ago I got to have a look round one of those statley homes, which I realy enjoyed because all the pretty carpets and interiors and such were still intact.. and rather large living rooms and libraries with realy old books in..very fascinating, all in all. Anyway, I saw this painting that was hanging in one of the bedrooms and the tour guide guy explained that this painting was by an artist called Angelica Kauffman, who spoke alot of languages and was talented in music as well as being a famous painter.
'The portrait shows Kauffman sitting between two mythical female figures - one art, one music - while they vie for her attention. The character of "painting" is rendered as a stern creature, though heroic and virtuous, whereas the figure for "music" is seen as a more light - hearted creature, bringing out feelings of sensual pleasure in the viewer. Kauffman's body language in the picture reveals her regret at choosing painting'.
(Information from answers.com -last accessed November 2010)
So when I saw this painting it sort of struck a chord with me that day, cause similiarly to Kauffman aswell as languages I also enjoy working with colours, collages and sketching etc. While I suck at drawing, and I'm not a massive artist, I still enjoy being creative like in in textiles lessons back in College. I do love linguistics as a whole and do still wish to be a Speech and Language Therapist, I miss sketching. And would sometimes rather be doing that instead of syntax and things. Just a thought.
I think I'm having one of these 'I'm in the wrong degree' days, which I think is kind of like a mid life crisis, but university style. Mostly, cause I was looking at all the work I have to do for Academic Skills and such and my mind went silent. It still is a little bit, assignment wise, but it's more interested in watching America's Next Top Model and eating Jammy Dodgers, which it realy shouldn't be.
Butttt, I have decided that I shall 'man-up' as they say, tomorrow and write essays on Chomsky's linguistic theory and eat Jammy Dodgers. Sounds like a plan.

A Banging Fringe & A Bit Of Tim Burton

Proper feelin' that I should chop all mine off and get some bangs. (Is that what they call a fringe in America? A bang? ) It's long-ishhh at the mo, with a wibbly side 'bang'-thing that always has a stray hair ..that ends up looking like a comb over cause I like the whole thing to be top heavy .. anyway, 's not plain, chic & simple, ala Freja Beha (shot2) & Alexa Chung (shot5) Not sure tho, I think I'm too chicken (read: lazy/cheap) to change it. & it'll require high maintenance (which I'm also too lazy/cheap for). The current tresses are in dire need of dowsing under a decent shower & de-greasing. But again, I'm lazy and waiting 'till after a Squash sesh at the gym for my yearly cleansing. (Don't I sound cool? :/ )
Anyway, must go. Got t work out what to create for tea with a single chicken thigh & philadelphia cheese. om nom nom.
Wish us luck, ey?

The Colour Of Our Planet From Far Far Away

Just noticed nothing has been written since the summer.. heh. Things have been a bit hectic, moving t uni, an' all. 's going well so far tho. But have been spending wayyy too much time fafffing about on tumblr instead of latin & syntax-ing it up. Darn.
Anywayyyy: liking blue lately.. which is a bit weird.. don't some people stick with one colour that they like, instead of picking one a week? It was Camel colour last time.. eh, nevermind.
Saw the Alexa Chung shot, like forever ago ( do you see the painting in the background?) at it reminded me of this shot in Pride and Prejudice ..(favourite film of all time, incase anyone is keeping check) I think I'd like t prance about wearing a blue dress against a blue wallpaper. Is that strange? Visually, it'd be very pleasing. If you think about it.
I'd better go & write up some Latin now; can't decide if it's a boring language nobody speaks anymore, or a pure language which cool Romans used to speak. Hmm. Odi et amo, I guess.

Camel Colours and Crushing on Justin Long

What's wrong with me these days? Okay, there are many things, I am starting to figure out, but one of them, is having a weird taste in colours, today ahah.. you guessed it Camel.. (the other day it was brown) or Caramel.. nude hues, the colour of tights in the Summer.. (instead of wearing winter black ones) ..and the hit shades all over the Catwalk my monthly magazines keep telling me. Fine, so probably not a totally weird colour to be favouring, but normal, 18 year old girls like pink and blue and yellow.. not Camel..

On this super lazy Tuesday I feel like a Camel, all droopy and blergh. I think this is because of many things:

1) Unwelcome Scientist-experiment-gone haywire- hair. Can't do anything productive with poofy hair. Nothings good when one resembles a male lion in the heat. Or Leona Lewis circa early X-Factor days.

2) It's Tuesday..even Craig David only 'took her for a drink on Tuesday' and nothing super-fun happened till at least Thursday and Friday and Saturday. Tuesday is the least productive day of the week, as I'm sure it has been scientifically proven, somewhere. No one saves the world on a Tuesday, perhaps on a Friday evening, but not Tuesday. Yeah, that's weird too. While everyone seems to hate Monday morning, I hate all of Tuesday. And then become fond of Wednesday. That is strange.

Ahm, that's all the factors I can think of for being lazy today, there'll be more soon, there's always more.

I'll explain the Justin Long thing: On this extremely lazy and nothing-productive-today-Tuesday, I watched 'He's Just Not That Into You'. While it recieved mediocre reviews from film loving pals, I quite liked it. It was like British favourite 'Love Actually', where it's one film with many intertwining stories, and the more of those films, the merrier, I believe. I also appreciated the title, 'He's Just Not That Into You'. I recognised that the relative pronoun (?) 'that' was designed to soften the blow, as opposed to the perhaps more severe title of 'He's Just Not Into You. Now go away and go and cry into some clams or something.' Anyway, I was watching it, trying helplessy not to identify with the possessive-over-men main character, Gigi. ( Dear potential- suitor-reader-guy: I feel I'm only a little bit like that, not fully.) Which wasn't a negative thing anyway, because she ended up with Alex, who was adorable and you guessed it, played by Drew Barrymore's beaux, Justin Long. Was he the slacker boat guy in Charlies Angels? If so, he was massively over looked in favour of the white teeth, super smart Clooney's and Pitts of the Hollywood generation.

I should stop typing now, I'm starting to get rice and pork grease on the keyboard. (As I've said before, clearly, Tuesday is not the sexiest, most flattering day of the week for your dear writer. Will portray myself as more appealing some other time). 'Till the next post, will leave you with photo's camel in outfits, picked from the blogosphere.
