Tuesday, Colour Love: Garnet

Back with my 'organising the blog' phase. Which tells you how organised and sorted I am, referring to this creative upheaval as just a 'phase'. I'm going to try and make this permanent, I promise guys. Scouts honor, an all that. This is just the beginning of possibly a new chapter in the life and it transcends into a wide variety of areas, the blog in particular. Okay, only the blog. I'm still a scruffpot ragdoll man-child and no one knows quite what to do with me, but no matter, eyy? Anyway, on with buisiness.

Garnet, the colour of cherries and of heartbreak, I have decided. (Bit dramatic, haha) But was reading the Vogue supplement thing that came out an issue or two ago, about the new trends, and 's probably not, ahem, trendy to repeat them or anything, but I figured this is one I could go with, pretty doable, as opposed to fur or day-glo or similiar. And as shown above, this is fairly flexible with any hair colour, which, tbh is how I pick out my clothes in a store. Thus explains the 'mild' obsession with purple; the clueless and somewhat blind belief that it goes with le brunette hair.

Just thinking to myself right now, why did this particular colour movement stand out more than the others? Also, pecan pie is not as nice as I first thought.*dissapointments*. Possibly because garnet is such a rich, jewel shade, but having said all that, I just googled the definition and the actual stones, according to crystal-cure garnet comes in dark brown, green, a lighter brown and a weak peach sort of colour. Oh. What was Vogue thinking about then, when all the dark red of the a/w season were christened garnet? Well nevermind, today, it is the colour of cherries and of heartbreak. It's the gemstone of 'successful business', 'constancy in friendships' and the symbol of 'love and compasion'. It also fixes thyroids and spleens, interestingly enough. Might get one, just incase the old spleen needs a-fixin', as you do.

Another reason why this colour has stuck inside my head, more than any other usefull information, is because it's one of those trends, perhaps cause of how flexible it is, that has filtered down to the highstreet. Can't stoll into a River Island or a Topshop these days without seeing the little garnet, mustard and petrol blue sections over there. And corduroy trousers, almost. A bit Marcus Brigstocke, which could always be fun.

My contribution to this little look would be the 'frilled chiffon tea dress' up there, which I sort of accidentally bought cause I was having a bit of a wrestle with the undergarment, the slippery, cheeky thing. Let me side track a bit: I was thinking about this post a while ago, jotting down ideas and I've found that these posts slip into my subconcious and I end up purchasing what I'm posting about, which shouldn't be all that surprising really, but it is for le bank account. One day I'll post my love for a Burberry plum-coloured trenchcoat and I'll wonder later where the £400 got to. Sneaky...

& The photo up top is myself sitting with my pal JohnJohn at a party, 's a sweet shot. Apologies it's not a proper, camera infront of mirror one, but heyho, you know I own it now. & I was sort of matchy with John, so it was nice.

Would've preferred it as an oversize knit, like the 3rd pic but must stop collecting these oversized knits. It's barely ever weather-fine. But it's Autumn now, so I like to think I blend with the leaves here. *you saw nothing*

Friday, Trend Hearting: Lace

Grr at awkward layout today, was trying to position the shots properly and it went all wibbly and wrong with the backspace button. And there is no 'undo' button on the internet, nor is there one in life. *pause for philisophical and wise moment*.

Anyway, on with le post. Was talking to a pal the other day about how I run a fashion blog and realised it sounded all cool and tres chic about it when I got home and came to the not-so-clashing conclusion that I don't write on here at all. The last post is probably two weeks ago. Unless.. my time machine works and the past 6/7 days (excuse the bad math, I'm lazy) have not happened/ have skipped them by completley. I'm not all Dr Who, and I don't see how that would work, but the blog sees all and is capable of things. mu-ha-HA. I digress, again. My main sort -of point is that the days are to organise and better myself, so am not taking photos of my toenails all day. Bad times, bad times. So am trying to pinpoint several days for things, blah, blah and it also shows myself up infront of you guys cause woe is moi for posting once every awkward friday ('TGIF' etcetc). Unless the time machine actually does work and ..nvm, actually back to buisiness this time.

Trend hearting. Strange title, but no matter. Lace. It didn't come up in Vogue or anything. YET. But have seen it around on the 'sphere alot lately and have been musing about its many uses.

For one, one can dye lace in many colours. You could get it in the vanilla or ice white, like the shoes and shorts (above) but it could come across quite wedding-y. Esp if you found yourself on a date or something, wearing all white lace. That would either be weirdly phrophetic or slightly phantom, depending on the guy. but screw that, if I ever get my claws on those sheer heels with detailing, I am wearing them everywhere, in public 'n all. Though I get the impression that you have to be a little cinderella for those and I am more frog prince, clump clump.

The Anna Lace dress in 'lake' (pic 2) for a measly £66-100 human pounds sterling would p'raps be more appt. It does come in 'strawberry' like the one Alexa Chung is wearing, incase any sugardaddies would like to come forward, the billing address shall be e-mailed to you and the website address is in the credits below, thank-you in advance, love Emmy.

I also found (cause this is what I spend my days and nights doing, not sleeping like normal 'sapiens, God forbid) the white mini shorts the lady is sporting (pic 1) in Ark Clothing, in Xscape, yey. So if you're in the Yorkshire area, pop by and see 'em, cause thats an awesome bit of detective work and research I just did to find 'em there kiddo, if you do find 'em, I did all the hard work and slog harhar. I should try out for MI5...

The jacket's cute. I always think of lace as a sort of fragile fabric, spotted alot on the trailers of the new Jane Eyre film, all bonnets and such like. Wouldn't wear it in the rain, but it looks durable enough, the metal zips and buttons take it away from feminine and more frank and masculine. But in a feminine, lady sense, if that is clear or not at all.

Also saw flourescent green lace skirt found here, thought it was beaut and fascinating in a nineties day-glo sort of way. It comes in gloves, not the green kind, but the conventional wedding white kind. Which would also make the material almost flexible, but then you see it on church hats and underdress and think cup-of-tea doilies and dolly darling twee things. Maybe not as metal zip rocker chic as first thought then.

Hmm. Anyway on with lives and long lost sleeping. If I find any lace that I can't secretly keep for my own (possibly never) future wedding I shall let you know, and vice versa, oui?

Friday, Website Finds Part 2

By my times, it is Friday, honest, but after I've posted this it'll be Sat'day, and blogger will be all wrong. Cause I know it always says the date above the title for some reason and I figure I'd better explain about why it says Friday, part 2 and Sat'day at the top, even tho the part one to this was like a week ago.. but hey, on here I guess that's how we roll.

But this isn't even a website post today, Imma being terribly cheeky misleading when I say , Godguyz, website coolness over here! (Bit of an odd holler, granted, but I was trying t be streetwise, forgive, forgive) but it follows on from the last lazy post in a sense that I got in a minor, in my head, hissy fit slash 'ooh lightbulb moment' phase of thoughts that I should do a HIMYS post for the loveerly readers out there. Unfortunatley, for the photo opps, Imma only in possession of a silver wibbly gadget of a camera, that I've probably spilled orange juice down. again, so the quality is a bit poor; you may have to blur your eyes, blink a bit, overcharge on the old imagination and pretend I suddenly went all Rankin on your ass and created images of blinding brilliance, ahem. And there aren't any shots of me and my squiggly wiggly fringe pouting and putting lipstick on, waiting for my chance to come. Cause recently, perhaps a dawning and oh-so-realistic fear has come up about being all old and twenty, and I've just come over and morphed into this thirteen year old man-child that slouches about in mens tracksuits and dark chocolate hobnobs, wailing and weeping over a wasted, mad-cracked misspent youth. But am almost over it, now reborn into an 'oh the places you'll go' new age slice of optimism, but saying that, I live in a house full of thieves and somebody has nicked my personal stash of dark chocolate hobnobs from my dress drawer and from my heart, so I've slipped back, not so momentarily, off the wagon and into the sulks, so nerr at life. Perhaps not a moment and a face that should be captured all over the net, y'know? Some other time, maybess, when am not so much man-child hag lady, coming out in hives and sexyness, waiting for exam results, panic panic, breathe deeply.

Which, I should explain, is what has eaten up le entire summer, rock and roll, and why, my summer photo album, shows not of drinking shots off of some gentlemans hot bod in Magaluf or similar, but of det and nom and Latin origins. Crazy times, man. Esp in picture three, that awkward moment when your nail polish matches the colour of your revision book. (Y'know, there are times, flashes of life, when I think that I just can not get any cooler...)

But that is what this is, an inadequate homage, if you will, to HIMYS or an advert for Paper Chase, here and here, either or. But a summer of bad-ass insomnia, an embarrassing over load on the fashion magazines, more so than usual, just so I can get my cut of the outside world; I'm hoping it's the same as I left it. However, totes man, who cares, Imma free chicken again, YEY. To finally live my live, 'born free, as free as the wind blows.. . as free as the grass grows, de dum de dum de dum' etc etc. What shall I do with my new found free, last counted moments of yoofdom. ? *shrugs* I dunno, tumblr, fb or summat. Same old same old...

Thursday, Website Finds Part 1

HIMYS is a photography based blog, with intimate shots and sneaky peeks into the personal spaces of the most famous bloggers on the 'sphere. If you're a loyal browser of Elle Uk magazine, it's a bit like 'Closet Confidential' (which is one of my favourite pieces) but in cyberspace form.

I haven't heard of the bloggers, and if you can see from my frequents in 'Reading List' over there >> that there probably aren't many blogs out there that I haven't at least heard of. (I'm coming across well read and fairly learned here, not my intention. Just sort of shows how much possibly pointeless time I spend perusing what feels like every blog on the net.)

These are cute girls with seemingly charmed lives. Not like I'm jealous or anything. Obvs. But apparently a full fringe and an extensive jewellery collection are the criteria of running a successfull blog these days. Deffo not jealous. Unfortunately I only have a half a 'comb over', depending on whether it behaves itself, and rings are tricky in my experience, since they always seem to end up down the toilet bowl. Okay, only one did, and I still don't know how it got there. It was a tenner from Accessorize and it was beaut I'm still sore about it, mpmh. I do however have a ridiculous stash of bracelets (check the url, lol) and necklaces and the odd trinket, so I reckon I'm about halfway there.

Despite my blue and grumpy shaded review of HIMYS, I do actually recommend it. I forget where it was recommended to me, perhaps from another blog. Why is this not surprising? Anywho, HIMYS has clear pictures, a little interview at the end and although I'm not yet on there(aha, jk)it does pick people whose lives and personal spaces you'd actually want to look into.

It doesn't post very often, probs because it doesn't have as much hits, probs probs because growly reviwers like me paint it as rather silly. It's not, honest. Check it out guys and maybe they'll post more.

Which reminds me, I'm not terribly disciplined with braceletlady and I intend to change this, which is why are labels with this post, shock horror, pick up those jaws, (okay only one) and it's actually got a day attatched to it and a sensible title. I have plans. It'll be interesting if they actually come through..

stay tuned. ;)

Marriage, Maltesers And JJ Feild

1. Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer.

Married for 14 years from 1954

2. Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth II.

Married 63 years from 20th November 1947

3. Julie Andrews and Blake Edwards.

Married for 43 years untill his death in 2010.

Not feelin' especially sentimental or anything, I just thought the pics needed sharing. Yey at marriage. For moi tho, perhaps a series of kittens and an endless supply of maltesers. Or the priesthood. But would happily settle for JJ Feild..

Take Me Away, A Sweet Escape

Preferably to somewhere with a swing and some sea. Perhaps Spain or similiar. Though I remember there's one at Barnsley Metrodome. Hm

Oh Shoes, You Crazy !

Shoes are my favourite sometimes, cause literally, they're a walking piece of art. And most of the time significantly cheaper than an original Monet or similiar. I'm rubbish at them tho. Buying shoes. Because sometimes I don't happen to be wearing socks or I forget my size (which ranges anywhere between a 4 and a 7) Can never walk in heels with everyone watching (one time, when I was buying prom shoes, I was all glittery and wibbly. Infront of the whole store)And the Schuh assistants are always awkward cause they stand over you while you undoe all the laces and put you foot in and walk around abit and feel all uncomfortable and pretend you remembered the right size and realise you're hobbling round the store on one foot with no socks (or replacement sock-tights where they always have holes in) and you forgot to paint your toenails and you mumble that they're fine, but in reality they're really not and you have to go buy them cause the assisstants work on commision or whatever so they'd be really pleased if you'd just spend 40 quid on the things so they'd get 10% trah lah lah, but as soon as you get home they're going to hide away in a cubpboard which is not what they were meant for cause some poor kid stitched the soles for 20pence an hour. (Anyone know any ethical shoe sites, pop 'em in my comment box, will you?) Mm.Feel bad about the rant, feel as if should be on Grumpy Old Women and make all my viewers cry. It's not 'that' bad at Shuh, I'm just really crap at shoe buying and dealing with other humans, so put the two together and ima disaster waiting to happen. My personal solution to these day-to-day quiffs is to bulk buy classroom pumps (size 4, £2.50) and live in those until they inevitably wear out from all the walking and prancing about. Only problem is I look about six years old, not nearly 20 and an Adult. And ask any guy, they probably won't say 'classroom pumps, you say? Excuse me while I undress..' So unfortunatley, am sexless being (which I don't mind, in all honesty, Ima tricky lady to be with, and if you aint Christopher Bailey, design director of Burberry Prorsum, you aint mine, kiddo.) with holes in le shoes, cause of my unreasonable phobia of shoe shopping. (and jean shopping, but that's another story)
So, ahem, long story short, pretty heels (for moi, anyway) are to be in a glass cage , admired at from afar. I shall buy them and sell ticket viewings.
The favourites being the Christian Loboutin pair (5th from the top), specially designed for the English National Ballet. Jealous much. Where are mine?
I know many people can't walk in shoes, but this is rather ridiculous. They're all glittery tho. I'd love to see a shot of a ballet dancer trotting about in those. Note to self, must take up ballet. End goal: walk in C.L shoes and be excellent.
2nd Fave are the Chanel Couture (2011) heels (bottom shot) with the lights. Did wonder how long it would take them to put some lights in a pair of heels. Cause they have them in kids trainers, don't they? Confession: I'd like to still be able to fit into those. It's no fun being 19.5 and not having lights on ballet flats and classroom pumps. Boo. But now they're on heels. Things are good again.
Am also loving the lucite (is that the material?) shoes (2nd from top) with the trapped ants and spiders. Don't know who designed them, but applauds and kudos to you, you creepy genious. Would be a bit mean for the ants and I'm not agrophobic or anything, but would scream like the six year old girl I secretly am if I wore heels with ma-hoo-sive tarantulas in. Even if they were make out of lucite.
Creative heels are also fun, like the Rodarte wooden ones and the leafy ones at the top. Sehr sehr funky. And the fourth from the top Vivienne Westwood shoes look like the snitch in Harry Potter, and any shoe Harry Potter inspired well deserves a mention.
The sparkly studded rainbow ones are also incred. snazzy, harr, harr. Not realy me, cause I dress like a six year old, but appropriate for the mini punk in everyone, perhaps.
But enough for now, my chickens, off t watch Made in Chelsea (how have I not heard about this until today??) and pretend to revise Syntax..
