Baby, It's A Man's World

Feelin' the adrogynous (according to Wikipedia: 'combination of masculine/ feminine characteristics' or, in fashion terms, a funky word for 'tomboy') trend these days, sod the dresses, ballet flats and pastel colours ! Am going for brogues, trilby hats and inky neutrals.. and shall 'man up' as they say. (Dunno 'who' says, but no matter)
Also loving the poster boys for this trend: Agyness Deyn, Coco Sumner and that Frankie chick off of Skins, who all have a sort of cool 'kick ass' (sans the superhero lyrca) attitude, plus some punk influences. 'Gender-blending' apparently, the kind I like, none of this boys and eyebrow plucking buisiness, tar very much. I mean, fair dos, there's more allowances for women to hop in the the mens section, pop on a pair of braces and no one will blink an eyelid, but if a guy is fancying a bit of pink that isn't a 'faded salmon colour', we'd certainly give a second thought to his sexual orientation. Which I suppose isn't fair and things need to change etc etc, but it is fun, almost liberating for women to have different options when it comes to hair and wardrobe; there's a gritty gutsy spirit in the transformation on a morning, a powerfull amount of freedom. I say we embrace this girlies, take a slice of the lions share in the statement dressing. Even if it means stealing your mans tie out of his collection to add a little bit of rock and roll to a wrap dress. (I don't know how that would work by the way, you might have to surprise me)
As for myself however, I may pin a ribbon bow (pink) on to a blazer, but I'm happy in my ballet flats and scalloped edge coats, it works for me. Untill tomorrow morning perhaps.. .

A Crush on Closet Collage

Finished my exams today, YEEEY. Restraining myself though, from shouting 'I'M FREE, I'M FREE..' at the top of my voice, like Chandler off of Friends when he breaks up with Janice. I should officialy start revising for Syntax resit in August, bad times, so probably shouldn't go completley loopy just yet. But anyway, this gives me more time to eat Morrisons' pecan cake while watching Iplayer's Case Histories, flicking through old magazines, reading all the books from the bookshelf and visiting blogs, making collages. Like one of my new favourite places do, 'Closet Collage'. These designers are my absoloute favourite: Burberry Prorsum, Luella Bartley, (now defunct), and Rodarte. Also massive fan of Erin Fetherston, Chanel's pretty good... Erdem, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen.. ooh. Donna Karan is also a new heroine of mine, has anyone read this months Vogue? (July 2011)

Uhm.. where was I? Oh, also after finishing exams, I can now waste more time on Pintrest and Polyvore, which are like online moodboards. That makes me happy. 'm off for now, off to cut out Look magazines, I found in the paper bin (see, it pays to recycle)and make shopping lists and inspiration boards and moodboards and eat pecan cake. And maybe a little Syntax revision. I have earned this mini break, after all.

If Happy Little Bluebirds Fly

Bored of le revision today. Which is bad for me to say, I geddit. However, break times are as important as the actual revision, and we're calling this a break time. Even tho, it's taken me about three hours to fix this up and find the shots and ususally half an hour to do German imperfects. Perhaps not an equal balance, but any balance is better than no balance at all, methinks.

Anywho, I really really like bird print /starling things. As you can probably tell. And I also like shopping. The colour blue and moodboards. trah lah! All excellent things in one blog post. So at least if I fail my exams, at least I know I have done something (sort-of) productive instead of lying about and doing nothing productive. And I'll have something pretty to look at. And will buy all these things. Once I marry a sugardaddy and so will have no need for degree at all. And live happily ever after. Excellent plan.

First things first. What to purchase? Even tho I don't work as much as a student, I have the budget for one. I was thinking maybe the birdcage necklace from Stolen Thunder, but now I've seen a skipping rope one which I like much more. WAH.

Haven't planned a holiday this year, but I walked past the local pool today was thinking that all I have interms off swimm wear is a black mandatory costume from year seven. EIGHT YEARS AGO. In my mind it still fits. But in reality it most likely does not. Which simply wont do. Must head to Accessorize in revision break tomorrow. It's not like I've not got any goals.

The skirt I'm on and off about. tbh. I have a blue satin (?) skirt from TK Maxx I bought almost three years ago (what's wrong with me, why is everything in my wardrobe so OLDDD? Evidently, it's imperative that this needs to be fixed!) but if we're honest my sister stole it and probably stretched it .. (she most likely hasn't, but I'm pulling at strings for excuses to buy a new one here). And this one has bird embroidery on it ! And is designed by Diana Vickers. Who, let's be honest, is nice enough, but I'm not her number one fan. But what I am a fan of is blue satin skirts, with bird embroidery. Which I think settles this.

The swallow necklace I'm not sure about. But it's a nice blue, and again, I like swallows. And blue.

Then again, might just not buy anything and man up and revise and revamp said old wardrobe and untill I come up with something cool. Which is what usually happens. Will also purchase second hand D.V.D of Romeo + Juliet and copy Clare Dane's costumes. Which is perhaps a more realistic plan than the sugar daddy one. Although, I have to say, it is an extremely close plan b.

p.s: wanted to include this shot in the inspiration bits, but Flickr wouldn't let me. It's actually my shot, but I've forgotten my own usename and password. trah lah lah, typical.

Under Cover of Darkness In a Faux Fur Fluffy Coat

Fluffy coat fun today. Not, I may have to stress, fur coats. But the faux fur ones, tar very much. I'm refering to the fluffy coats you can snuggle and disapear in for a life time. To be honest, I'm not sure if they'd suit me, but I'd just like one to wear stilletos with, gliding round the flat with a chocolate cigarette, calling everyone 'dahhling.'
Ages ago, I went to a carboot sale with a friend, cause she loves those things. I remember it well, it was boiling, which was weird for Yorkshire. One of those temperatures which is so unlike the North, England even, that makes you ask. Whoa. There's something wrong here. One of those temperatures where everyone goes, 'the sun is out, everyone, head to the beach!' That wasn't the vibe or anything, but it was unusually hot for a Sunday. Anyway, at the car boot sale, I got a typewriter for like 50p or something, I wish a little bit, that I still had it now. I might Amazon one later.. mm. The point to the story.. I walked past some fur coats on a rail thing. I should've thought to get them, but I didn't at the time cause it was too hot. Damn it weather, you crazy.
I didn't wear a coat this morning, while I was walking. Partly cause when I get dressed for the day I peek out the window and the sun is shining. But as soon as I step outside the door, gusts of winds come at me and thunderstorms and rain magically appear, and not in a good way. As if there is a good way for rain to come, but nevermind.

The other reason why I didn't wear a coat this morning because I woke up at 09:38 and I had to meet a mate at 09:40 and I just ransacked the wardrobe for a dress and cardigan. Standard. We were out walking and it was super windy and leaves were flying into my eyes and my hair flew everywhere, so I couldn't see anything..mew. bad times. Was not best pleased with this weather.

ANYWYAYYYYWAY, what charged this post was that I'd feel totally indestructable with a faux fur fluffy coat. Perhaps not in the rain, or against swords and cat claws indestructable, but hidden from the wind, none the less. Also, I keep stumbling upon The Royal Tennanbaums screenshots (first pic, above) with Gwyneth Paltrow and her iconic windy proof look.

Wonder where I can get one from? Probably useless anyway, cause it's almost (or at least it should be) summer here. Might get one and keep it for the winter, but hey, these are just thoughts out loud.

Went to Morrisons today to get food stuffs and a writing notebook for revision. Managed to get the foodstuffs, but picked up a sketchpad instead. (They have the same covers okay, it's deceptive !) Also found triangular marker pens, intentionally for revision. So far it's sort of being used as revision, but in the creating-a-really-pretty-and-elaborate-revision-timetable sense. It totally counts as revison, because it's an aid-to revision.. Excellent.

Anyway, saw these pictures on tumblr and saved them 'cause they're all arty and pretty but irratatingly inspire me to draw things instead of learning about them. Maybe not even to draw things, but are subconciously fuelling my stationary buying adiction. Which I'd come off of untill an innocent trip to Morrisons to buy foodstuffs today came about. And now I believe that it's imperative that I fill the sketchbook and use the triangular pens (even though they're designed for nine year olds, nineteen year olds find them adorable and love the easy-grip too..) for creatively amazing sketches which will then motivate my black and white and sepia unmotivated procastinating brain into understanding theories about bioprogrammes. Which I think, sounds cooler than it actually is. When I have finished creating amazing pieces of artwork then I shall post a photo of the marker pens on tumblr in order to silently encourage fellow student unmotivated procrastinators to draw pretty bunnies and blog about it and revise afterwards.

Mmm. Have come to the conclusion that I may not have the best work ethic in the world, but perhaps the greatest collection of stationary..

Camping Out Plans and Taylor Swift Street Style

Taking a break from German prepositional compliments and nosying at Taylor Swift's street style. Printed dresses +oversized cardigans + big sunglasses + oversized sweatshirts + skinny jeans are now on le shopping list. Must go shop and have all these things!

I realise that this isn't dissimilar to the Karen Gillan street style post where shopping for pretty things turned out to be significantly more interesting than Latin verbs or whatever. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do. I think it's just that I am easily distracted. Especially when the distraction is in clothing form.

Should go now, and campout and wait for the shops to open so I can stock up on more printed dresses. Grr at you bank holiday, why are things not open today ! Tommorow morning is such a long way away..

Any Bow Is Better Than No Bow At All

Overflow/spam of ribbons and bows and bits of string things today. I'm not sure I know why, but I like if you where a dress that comes with a tie round your waist so you can make it into a bow at the back? It never comes out perfect tho, but hey, any bow is better than no bow at all.

Also, in the early bit of Matilda, (the film version) they show her tying a ribbon on her head at like six or something. I should've found a screenshot, but I didn't think about it untill just now after I put 20,0000 ribbon pictures on and then started jabbering at you about them. Anyway, you get my drift.

I think that image slipped into my subconcious or whatever as a child 'cause I then decided every female I drew had to have a ribbon on it's head. I think that my Gran has a really squiffy portrait painted by a five year old me somewhere. At least, I hope she still has it; she could sell it on Ebay if I ever get famous. Which will (hopefully) be never, because that would be odd, and if it did, I imagine it would get as much popularity as the dead bee someone is attempting to flog up there.

Should go now, and revise. Even tho it's 00:29 and a new series of How I Met Your Mother is available ..but instead of the revision and telly watching I want to nip out to a craft shop and stock up on ribbons and have a ribbon drawer like Monica off of Friends.. why is everyone so sleepy and every shop so closed at thirty eight minutes past midnight..? That, I shall never understand.
