Feelin' the adrogynous (according to Wikipedia: 'combination of masculine/ feminine characteristics' or, in fashion terms, a funky word for 'tomboy') trend these days, sod the dresses, ballet flats and pastel colours ! Am going for brogues, trilby hats and inky neutrals.. and shall 'man up' as they say. (Dunno 'who' says, but no matter)
Also loving the poster boys for this trend: Agyness Deyn, Coco Sumner and that Frankie chick off of Skins, who all have a sort of cool 'kick ass' (sans the superhero lyrca) attitude, plus some punk influences. 'Gender-blending' apparently, the kind I like, none of this boys and eyebrow plucking buisiness, tar very much. I mean, fair dos, there's more allowances for women to hop in the the mens section, pop on a pair of braces and no one will blink an eyelid, but if a guy is fancying a bit of pink that isn't a 'faded salmon colour', we'd certainly give a second thought to his sexual orientation. Which I suppose isn't fair and things need to change etc etc, but it is fun, almost liberating for women to have different options when it comes to hair and wardrobe; there's a gritty gutsy spirit in the transformation on a morning, a powerfull amount of freedom. I say we embrace this girlies, take a slice of the lions share in the statement dressing. Even if it means stealing your mans tie out of his collection to add a little bit of rock and roll to a wrap dress. (I don't know how that would work by the way, you might have to surprise me)
As for myself however, I may pin a ribbon bow (pink) on to a blazer, but I'm happy in my ballet flats and scalloped edge coats, it works for me. Untill tomorrow morning perhaps.. .
