Wednesday, Misc: Painted & Pretty Nails

I'm feeling that I should probably explain today why I spent a good whole five minutes meowing at the back of Cafe Nero. For now however I should say that have come to the apparent conclusion that I think the world, non, the universe is probably split into two simple different species. Nail biters and Non nail biters. ( God, that was an attractive sentence just then.) I used to be part of the latter [the dark] side. Untill my post-stress head said one morning, 'screw, it. I am free and can be anything I wish. I wish to be a non nail biter and then president. But first non nail biter, as I figure that will be easier than becoming president.' But recently have been feelin' that president of a country where I don't reside or know anything about would be significantly easier than being a non nail biter. For it doesn't come withut it's difficulties. To elaborate, I'm thinking some background information about your writer is needed here.

According to the hundered million personality, numerolgy, colour-ogy, vocation finding type test on le interweb, they have all concluded that I am some idealist intense creature most likely to write poetry and slash or paint a pretty picture before falling into a slow and deeply pit of self created depression.* Charming, maybe though albeit abusingly accurate. [..] So only it naturally stands that am crazy-lady stress-head, created at birth to become panic-y Nail Biter. Excellent.

But anyway, back to what I was typing. Apologies L. Gaga, I was not born this way, I will break out box and out my mould to become stress free woman-with-talons. Unfortunate side affects of this are: drumming on every surface I find my fingers. Tho this is mostly stair rails and in human company, much to the annoyance of well, every fellow human. Also scratching. Not in the 'don't steal my chips or I will avenge you' kind of way, but more in examples such like, my laptop has raised little lines, upon which I have begun to form guitar like melodies. Growing long nails makes one very musical, what with the drumming and harmonies 'n all. It is with this reason I feel I have benefited from being a non nail biter.

Other reason include (several many paragraphs down and I have finally got to the point of the post, yey at me) having pretty nails to show off at people, show off your non nail biting skills. Unfortunatley, this does not work for me, as I have probably mentioned, to the right somewhere, that nail polish on my ten fingers makes my fingers age approximatley ten thousand years. I feel as if I should be brandishing a quails egg wand or similiar, as described in the Harry Potter Olivander bits. Complete with warts and a drowning disposition. Well, I am halfway there at least.

I have also realised, several words and characters down this post, that the pretty pics I put with this post are of people with short nails, who are the nail biters of the universe. Boo. But maybe they are non nail biters who groom them as to not be drumming and strumming everywhere. Oo, I like it.

These people also drink pastel matching milkshakes and eat whole meal sandwhich lunches. Or they where hardcore metal bling and fondle what looks to be faded nineties pictures of Leo Dicaprio. Either way the non nail biter lives sound like the way to go. I'll leave that to you lovely readers to decide.

Sunday, Youtube Vids: Funny

After being such a grumpy bunny lately, figured I'd share some videos that made me giggle:

The first one explains the 2nd picture, which is of Francis and Fred from 'Made in Chelsea' (love!) and their little thing on the E4 site, here, is haahah worthy, or 'lol' worthy as the kids say nowadays. (I am now 20, I am not up to day with the yoof) The 1st vid with the picture, linked here is from the boys from the film 'He's Just Not That Into You'. Which I actually loved and not many people do, which is sad. Mew, anywho.

The 3rd shot was just funny. And a personal goal. Shall learn how to knit with spaghetti once I am old. Looking forward to it greatly.

(Btw, it is Sunday when I write this, 's just my laptop is backwards when it says 'Monday'. LIES.LIES. I do know what the days of the week are, obvs..)

Wednesday, Misc: Split-Screen

Not much to say today. Well I say that, but that's never true and you'll end up with a six thousand word essay to read cause I can't stop spouting this intolerable drivel. But no matter, this whole thing may just be a couple more lines long. Though you never know, I might surprise myself and say a whole alot more. Oh shut up.

Split screen is my fave today, and I am 20. Which is odd. The 20 thing, not the split screen thing. Which is sort of an odd thing to have as a fave, but we've never been quite straight forward on here so, hey ho, there you go.

Split-screen is excellent because you can watch two things at the same time, watch two different sides to a story. Effective narrative, etc etc. Which works in all of these examples, the 500 Days of Summer sequence, which was expectations against reality. The Bad Day music video by Daniel Powter and the 'Split Screen, A Love Story' vid shows the side by side views of two people. (You have to watch the love story video, 's absoloutley beaut). And the clever film 'Conversations With Other Women' is also worth a watch, but it takes several minutes to get your head round what's happening and what to focus on.

Anyway, I should run off to, cause now I am twenty and in search of something to show for the past double-decade years. Untill next time,

Tuesday, Colour Love: Garnet

Back with my 'organising the blog' phase. Which tells you how organised and sorted I am, referring to this creative upheaval as just a 'phase'. I'm going to try and make this permanent, I promise guys. Scouts honor, an all that. This is just the beginning of possibly a new chapter in the life and it transcends into a wide variety of areas, the blog in particular. Okay, only the blog. I'm still a scruffpot ragdoll man-child and no one knows quite what to do with me, but no matter, eyy? Anyway, on with buisiness.

Garnet, the colour of cherries and of heartbreak, I have decided. (Bit dramatic, haha) But was reading the Vogue supplement thing that came out an issue or two ago, about the new trends, and 's probably not, ahem, trendy to repeat them or anything, but I figured this is one I could go with, pretty doable, as opposed to fur or day-glo or similiar. And as shown above, this is fairly flexible with any hair colour, which, tbh is how I pick out my clothes in a store. Thus explains the 'mild' obsession with purple; the clueless and somewhat blind belief that it goes with le brunette hair.

Just thinking to myself right now, why did this particular colour movement stand out more than the others? Also, pecan pie is not as nice as I first thought.*dissapointments*. Possibly because garnet is such a rich, jewel shade, but having said all that, I just googled the definition and the actual stones, according to crystal-cure garnet comes in dark brown, green, a lighter brown and a weak peach sort of colour. Oh. What was Vogue thinking about then, when all the dark red of the a/w season were christened garnet? Well nevermind, today, it is the colour of cherries and of heartbreak. It's the gemstone of 'successful business', 'constancy in friendships' and the symbol of 'love and compasion'. It also fixes thyroids and spleens, interestingly enough. Might get one, just incase the old spleen needs a-fixin', as you do.

Another reason why this colour has stuck inside my head, more than any other usefull information, is because it's one of those trends, perhaps cause of how flexible it is, that has filtered down to the highstreet. Can't stoll into a River Island or a Topshop these days without seeing the little garnet, mustard and petrol blue sections over there. And corduroy trousers, almost. A bit Marcus Brigstocke, which could always be fun.

My contribution to this little look would be the 'frilled chiffon tea dress' up there, which I sort of accidentally bought cause I was having a bit of a wrestle with the undergarment, the slippery, cheeky thing. Let me side track a bit: I was thinking about this post a while ago, jotting down ideas and I've found that these posts slip into my subconcious and I end up purchasing what I'm posting about, which shouldn't be all that surprising really, but it is for le bank account. One day I'll post my love for a Burberry plum-coloured trenchcoat and I'll wonder later where the £400 got to. Sneaky...

& The photo up top is myself sitting with my pal JohnJohn at a party, 's a sweet shot. Apologies it's not a proper, camera infront of mirror one, but heyho, you know I own it now. & I was sort of matchy with John, so it was nice.

Would've preferred it as an oversize knit, like the 3rd pic but must stop collecting these oversized knits. It's barely ever weather-fine. But it's Autumn now, so I like to think I blend with the leaves here. *you saw nothing*

Friday, Trend Hearting: Lace

Grr at awkward layout today, was trying to position the shots properly and it went all wibbly and wrong with the backspace button. And there is no 'undo' button on the internet, nor is there one in life. *pause for philisophical and wise moment*.

Anyway, on with le post. Was talking to a pal the other day about how I run a fashion blog and realised it sounded all cool and tres chic about it when I got home and came to the not-so-clashing conclusion that I don't write on here at all. The last post is probably two weeks ago. Unless.. my time machine works and the past 6/7 days (excuse the bad math, I'm lazy) have not happened/ have skipped them by completley. I'm not all Dr Who, and I don't see how that would work, but the blog sees all and is capable of things. mu-ha-HA. I digress, again. My main sort -of point is that the days are to organise and better myself, so am not taking photos of my toenails all day. Bad times, bad times. So am trying to pinpoint several days for things, blah, blah and it also shows myself up infront of you guys cause woe is moi for posting once every awkward friday ('TGIF' etcetc). Unless the time machine actually does work and ..nvm, actually back to buisiness this time.

Trend hearting. Strange title, but no matter. Lace. It didn't come up in Vogue or anything. YET. But have seen it around on the 'sphere alot lately and have been musing about its many uses.

For one, one can dye lace in many colours. You could get it in the vanilla or ice white, like the shoes and shorts (above) but it could come across quite wedding-y. Esp if you found yourself on a date or something, wearing all white lace. That would either be weirdly phrophetic or slightly phantom, depending on the guy. but screw that, if I ever get my claws on those sheer heels with detailing, I am wearing them everywhere, in public 'n all. Though I get the impression that you have to be a little cinderella for those and I am more frog prince, clump clump.

The Anna Lace dress in 'lake' (pic 2) for a measly £66-100 human pounds sterling would p'raps be more appt. It does come in 'strawberry' like the one Alexa Chung is wearing, incase any sugardaddies would like to come forward, the billing address shall be e-mailed to you and the website address is in the credits below, thank-you in advance, love Emmy.

I also found (cause this is what I spend my days and nights doing, not sleeping like normal 'sapiens, God forbid) the white mini shorts the lady is sporting (pic 1) in Ark Clothing, in Xscape, yey. So if you're in the Yorkshire area, pop by and see 'em, cause thats an awesome bit of detective work and research I just did to find 'em there kiddo, if you do find 'em, I did all the hard work and slog harhar. I should try out for MI5...

The jacket's cute. I always think of lace as a sort of fragile fabric, spotted alot on the trailers of the new Jane Eyre film, all bonnets and such like. Wouldn't wear it in the rain, but it looks durable enough, the metal zips and buttons take it away from feminine and more frank and masculine. But in a feminine, lady sense, if that is clear or not at all.

Also saw flourescent green lace skirt found here, thought it was beaut and fascinating in a nineties day-glo sort of way. It comes in gloves, not the green kind, but the conventional wedding white kind. Which would also make the material almost flexible, but then you see it on church hats and underdress and think cup-of-tea doilies and dolly darling twee things. Maybe not as metal zip rocker chic as first thought then.

Hmm. Anyway on with lives and long lost sleeping. If I find any lace that I can't secretly keep for my own (possibly never) future wedding I shall let you know, and vice versa, oui?
