What To Live For

Suckish English Exam today. Meh. I'm sure it went fine, but when you start out making sense and then get really tired at the end and your hand aches and you loose that clarity of communication you actually get the points for. Ey dearrr.
But anyway, what I'm getting at is that even when you are feeling rubbish, there are always those little things there to cheer you up and get you smiling again. For example:

1. That text on your phone. We all have one. From *that* person. ;D I'm being both deictic and vague here. But you know what I mean, don't you? That text from a certain person that makes you smile, even in the saddest of times. (For the record, I never replied to mine. I didn't know what to say back.. )

2. Random 'pile on' times. This is silly, and wasn't going to be on the list originally, however I was in one mash of a pile on/hug today and everyone was laughing and I laughed too ..in short it was a lovely moment. Or maybe this little bit should be called 'when everyone laughs together' or something. Because those times are awesome too- especially when you're in the cinema and everyone laughs /are freaked out at the same time. (The Simpson's movie and Paranormal Activity respectively.)
Pile On. Verb: When somebody is on the floor for no reason, someone randomly shouts 'pile on' and lots of people jump on top until someone complains of being very squished.

3. Okay, I've stolen this from 'you are my fave' but I never thought about it until now, but it cheers me up no end: the piece of pizza with a really big bubble. I think you find this in take-away pizzas. If a lovely reader now, is going to order a take-away pizza to find any bubbles, then I shouldn't be promoting junk food. Although surprise bubbles are lovely :) (Wow, I'm easily amused)

4. Getting an album, and finding a song (that's not been a single already), loving it and feeling like only you know about it because nobody else has heard it. That element of something being ..exclusive (is that the right word?) secretive, and personal all at the same time. For example, Shakira's She Wolf album: Gypsy, Mika's The Boy Who Knew Too Much: I See You, Maroon 5 Songs About Jane: Must Get Out. There are a few more, but I can't think of them right now. It's lovely, because you find them accidentally, when your iPod is on shuffle and you can't be bothered to skip. Then you find out it's awesome and love it forever.

5. Seeing males with children. This is perhaps the maternal/ biological clock thing in me ticking and clicking away, but I adore it, if you're sitting and people watching and some random father is doing cutesy things with his child, or it's a guy you never thought would be good with children, but is.. it's so sweet. I was in Leeds once with some guy friends, and we ended up in some sort of mission to get this kid back to it's parents because it was lost.. and both the guys were better at talking and relating to this kid then I was. (I'm not much of a motherly character, I don't think) I'm not interested in the guys romantically, but it was a lovely couple of minutes when they were talking to him.
There's also that moment in Fools Rush In with Matthew Perry, where his character is all 'no I don't want kids' and then Salma Hayek catches him with holding this baby, and it totally changes his mind. (Awww!) If anyone is keeping track, then my kids names will be Jayne / Lillian. But these are subject to change. I might get a puppy instead..

6. Doing Friends Quotes. There's a term in Media to do with Uses and Gratifications theory, (what different uses we get out of a text) and one of them is a 'Water Cooler Moment'.- Where you watch a t.v show perhaps only because someone else watches it too, so you can talk about it the next day. At the Water Cooler. It's a lovely term, but I don't think I've ever actually done that. But it doesn't matter with Friends because every person you bump into watches it, and they're all super-fans and no all the quotes. Quoting Friends is a great way to bond with people- I've done it recently with some people I've just met; with two girls in my English and some people in a new group of friends. The latter group, there is a pal that does 'you're so far past the line.. ' and with the former we were discussing whether to put 'a racoon came in..' in the English paper. I also used to do 'the hills are alive with the sound *of* music..' with an old friend, and that was fantastic. Same goes with How I Met Your Mother. Or any E4 sitcom, for that matter. :D

7. Having something on your 'to-do' list crossed off. Especially if it's something you've bought. The other day I was late to College and caught the main bus instead and as the main bus delivers you to the bus station, and you have to walk through the town to get to college, and in the town there are lots of shops. zB New Look, WHSmith, Dorothy Perkins.. and so I went into Dorothy Perkins and there were these deer pyjamas which were £20 before Christmas.. and were taken down to £12 but when I went to pay for them they were £7.! I'd written down to buy them for ages, thinking I'd have to spend $20 but spent £7 instead. That was a fun morning. See also: finishing big projects, getting things done etc..

8. Reading an article that's well written and/or what you totally relate to. For this I like to read The Times, Elle or Vogue. The Vogue ones are so lengthy you feel like you should get a medal of achievement for finishing the thing in it's entirety! All you loyal readers should probably get a medal for reading this, because no blog posts should ever be this long. I apologies, it was supposed to be short ..

9. Getting a good review. I was feeling totally a bit rubbish about my lame -ass 'poetry' and on this writing social networking site, someone had read it and told me I was good! How lovely :) I've had quite a few reviews, I love getting them.. hint hint. ;) (I'm half joking, no one should review this, it's badly written, too many long sentences D:)

10. Long, meaningful conversations about Life, The World And Everything. These are brilliant, us girls normally have them at random times, but I've got several guy pals who I can do this with too. I suppose any conversation in general where you don't have to think about what you're going to say next- these are lovely.

I won't bore you with any more now, but I also love it when:
-You discover a lovely piece of clothing in the treasure trove that is T.K Max
-Seeing birds fly in formation (and other wonders of nature)
-My Wednesday bagel and egg at break time before Textiles. I didn't have it today; I am sad D:
-Weird, personal sandwhiches at Subway. Every Saturday I meet some pals at Subway and I use this opportunity to attempt to have a weird concoction of a sandwhich, thus amusing the subway guys on my silly tastes. It doesn't work though, I always get a meatball melt on a hearty Italian.
-That waiter guy in the Asda restaurant who usually waves and smiles. We don't know each other personally.. but he's lovely and it's nice.
-Reading a book and forgetting about the outside world. Haven't read a good book in ages. I shall scour Amazon now.
-Getting packages from Amazon. :D
-At College, grabbing a pal with a driving licence and a few more pals to go to Asda for 'baked goods', lunch, or Alcohol. (the latter consumed at a weekend party, not at College.) The soundtrack to this venture will be something by MGMT or Supermassive Black Hole by MUSE. Used to do this alot last year, but few year 13's drive, so it sucks. Good memories, though.
-Walking into Accessorize, seeing all the pretty things and wanting everything. A good girly pal of mine is also a great fan of pretty textile like things- we could spend all day in there. Unfortunately it's a pretty expensive shop and we're usually very skint..
-Being in charge of a photoshoot. I did this once last year; I had to yell at my 'models' to get them to pay attention, it was fun. Hope to do it again sometime.
-Seeing someone's awesome outfit. / Men in suits getting off the train.
-Dancing. Trying to be sexy dancing, dancing to get rid of energy and cheesy dancing like macarena at parties. I heart parties alot. I think I've got 3 parties coming up next month. eee :D
-That open bird cage and flyaway bird tattoo I'm going to get when I'm older. At least, I might do, I might chicken out..
-Learning a song on the piano. Especially a pop song. I've got a Find Frenzy piano book, and I'm working on that :)
-Finding a new blog to read. You know it's a good one, when you click on older posts and go right back to the beginning.

And on that note, I shall end. It was nice typing to you.
I hope you look for the nice things that cheer you up. Or you are cheered up by my list. :)

Quote of the Post:
''Last night I dreamed the alphabet
Out of my voice, all pretty plastic shapes
Muted microphones
Turned in my hands to ice cream cones
And the silence was all syrupy, all candy, tarts and cake''- Paper Trails, Emmy The Great
